| - July 1st - We'll be picking up at Grenoble train station at 1:00pm and will make the short drive to Alpe d'huez. Once check-in is completed, we'll assemble bikes and go for a short ride in the area. There are several trains from Paris and from Lyon airport that arrive in Grenoble. |
| - July 2nd - We'll have a short ride planned in the morning to keep the legs going, but the plan is mostly to register, and prepare for tomorrow's event. Massages are available be should be booked ahead of time. | |
- La Marmotte - July 3rd - This is the major event! The Marmotte was the first cyclosportive created, back in 1982 and with such climbs as Col de la Croix de Fer, the Telegraphe+Galibier combo and the climb up to Alpe d'Huez, it remains "the" reference to this day - the event every cyclo-sportif should ride at least once (or every year as some do!). |
| It all starts in Bourg d'Oisans at the base of Alpe d'Huez. The base of the first climb the col de la Croix de Fer comes quickly followed by the col du Telegraphe, Galibier and finally Alpe d'Huez. After going over the col du Glandon for a few years due to an ongoing construction project on the road to the col de la Croix de Fer, it should be back to the classic course over the Croix de Fer in 2010. At the end of the day, 174km with 16404' of eevation gain - congratulations! | |
| - La Montee de l'Alpe - July 4th - Never enough Alpe d'Huez! The final event of this "Trophee de l'Oisans" is a timed event up the 21 switchbacks. Times will be tallied tonight to find out individual rankings! |
- July 5th - We're leaving Alpe d'huez and the Alps today to make our way South - After breakfast we will drive out to Grenoble where we will start a beautiful ride through the Vercors region. After our ride, we'll finish the drive to get to the Provence region near the base of Mont Ventoux! |
- July 6th - This is
the day you get to ride the Geant de Provence! Mont
Ventoux has been made famous by its 15 appearances in
the Tour de France, the drama that has taken place on
it's slopes and it's "lunar" landscape on the final few
kms. We'll leave from the hotel and have a loop ride
which will include the 21km climb from Bedoin; the
mountain's Southern/Historical side. We'll enjoy a final evening together this evening and celebrate a great few days of riding! |
| - July 7th - Departure; we will transfer to Avignon TGV station early after breakfast. | |
- 4 nights accommodations at Alpe d'Huez + 2 nights in Provence - Breakfast daily - 4 Dinners - Transfers from/to train stations
