How many participants are in your groups?
Depending on the tour you wish to book, groups are between 6 and 25 participants.
Do I need to be a strong rider to participate in one of your tours?
Our cycling tours cater to all cycling abilities as well as non riding companions. We offer 2 riding distances each day and you can ride as much or as little as you wish. All our trips also include support vehicles that can give you a lift if needed. Our Non cycling tours are also very popular and are strictly non cycling.
How do I book a tour with Custom Getaways?
Because our group sizes are limited, please contact us to confirm availability and we will then email you our reservation form for the event you wish to book.
How much is the deposit and when does my trip need to be paid in full?
Deposits and payment schedules vary based on your trip however most require a 25% deposit. Final payments are due between 3 and 4 months prior to your trip.
How do I purchase travel insurance? What is covered?
Simply let us know. We will need your name as indicated on your passport, date of birth, how much coverage you wish and we will have a quote emailed to you. Once you have reviewed your quote, we can enroll you or you can also process the insurance yourself through the quote you will receive. Please refer to our Travel insurance page for more details about coverage.
When can I expect detailed daily schedule and rides itineraries?
Organizers of large events such as The Tour de France & the Giro will release the exact timing and detailed itinerary for each stage about 2 months in advance. Many of our daily activities are based upon the race timing. As information becomes available and our daily schedule is finalized, we will update you and your pre-departure packet will include all the details.
How do I meet my Tour guides at the Pick up location? What happens if I am late?
All our guided trips have 1 or more pick up location, date and time. Please see our Pick up/Drop off information for each tour. Your pre-travel information packet will also include an emergency phone number in the event that you are delayed and cannot make it to the pick up location in time. We will do our best to find a convenient solution and pick you up. However, if the delay is such that we cannot wait for you, you will have to make your own way to the first hotel.
I am arriving before the group Tour starts. Can you pick me up at my hotel?
As many people have different plans before the start of our trips and to make the transfers to our first hotels as smooth and short as possible, we cannot pick up at locations other than the scheduled pick up(s).
Will Custom Getaways transfer me to the airport or train station at the end of my trip?
This will vary based on the trip you have booked. Please refer to the “what’s included” tab on your trip page for that information.
Can you provide me with the hotels addresses and phone numbers so my family can reach me?
Your pre-departure information will include a section “Hotels” with all the details. We can also provide you with that information at the time of booking. Please keep in mind that all lodging may not be finalized until a few weeks prior to your trip. We also visit hotels on a regular basis and may decide to change a location if needed.
I have dietary restrictions. Will the meals be adapted for me?
Please let us know in advance of any particular dietary needs (vegetarian, food allergies or intolerances) that you may have and we will ask the hotels/restaurants to accommodate you. Most places will be happy to accommodate you.
Will I be able to have access to my emails while on the Tour?
Most hotels now have internet access and/or WiFi. Some smaller hotels in more remote locations may not have internet access. But remember, you are on VACATION!
I booked a rental car through Custom Getaways. What is included in the insurance coverage?
Fire and liability insurance for injuries or damages to persons or things outside the vehicle are included, however collision damage waiver, theft, personal injuries to driver or damage to the vehicle are not. Please refer to your voucher for more information.
